Title: My Doctor is Referring me to The University of Washington for transplant..
Post by: Krisna on April 11, 2012, 08:11:42 PM
He said they'll probably want to start from scratch, meaning stress tests and everything!  But since I've been working out somewhat regularly that shouldn't be a problem for me!

It's gonna be a while before I hear from them!  Then a longer while before I can even get in!

My doctor isn't giving more than 5 to 10 yrs if I stay on dialysis.  So, he wants me transplanted to give me the best chance at a long life!

I told him that I've been doing this a log time and have lived longer than anyone ever thought I would.  So, I'm prepared to accept whatever happens.  Meaning if something goes wrong and I die!  My family and I know it's a risk!  We are all prepared for it!

Thanks for all the support!  The UW is the only transplant hospital in Seattle I have not been in so it will be a completely new experience for me!   :grouphug;

Hi Krisna,

I am a recent transplant recipient at the UWMC, my transplant was done on 11/23/11. I just spent a  few days there due to a bullyish hemotoma that decided to squish against my kidney, Lynette, and keep her from doing her job. I had to have emergency surgery to have that removed, and I will now be going back frequently to get blood draws. Lynette is pushing urine, but the creatinine is scary high. I think I will be saying some prayers and thinking positive thoughts to get that train to turn around!

I do have to say, I like the drs and nurses at UWMC. They are the only TC I have known, so I may be biased. But, whenever there is a problem, they are on top of it, each and everytime. My hemotoma was most likely caused by a routine biopsy that went totally text book. It then took an abrupt turn to the worse on Saturday.  Definenetly took me by suprise.

Good luck with your upcoming appointment and feel free to PM me if you have any questions, or ask them here~

You've been through so much, it's really amazing how you've come through it all.
i hope the new team can help you move toward another transplant.
Good luck!
