Saturday night I hit the NEXT icon and took the connection out of the stay safe holder and went to bed. The next morning the machine hadn't went thought the program. I put in a 2.6 manual bag and the a 1.5 bag in the afternoon. Set up the cycler again Sunday night and it only drained about a cup (I had 2000 ml in me) It was at the fill stage and I saw it was filling VERY slow (44 ml in 30 minutes) NO ALARM HAD BEEN SOUNDED I called my nurse and told her what was happening with the machine, since she didn't have any answers she had me called the 800 number. The tech had me hold down the up and the down buttons at the same time and nothing happened. I then had to turn off the machine and turn it back on and cancel the treatment. They are sending me a new maching, telling me that it will arrive by 5 o'clock today. Here I sit waiting. When I opened the cassette door water poured out so I called them back informing them of this fact. I hadn't had a lick of trouble since getting it in December. I did notice that it was getting a bit louder, but I have it in another room other than the bedroom so it didn't disturb me at night. Last night I couldn't sleep well because I didn't hear the puppy working. Most of you lose sleep because you can hear your machine working

Wow. That really sucks. Glad you have some manuals to see you through.

The new machine arrived at 4 this afternoon and the programing has been entered into the machine. I'll see how tonight goes.

I hate when my machine :puke;. Not only do I feel bad the next day but its a pain to wait for a new one. As for the noise.. I have the liberty also and I'm not not bothered too much by it. In fact I have kinda gotten used to it and its like white noise to me. The only thing I wish it wasn't so sensitive and alarm at the littlest problems. Or I wish they could make it so you just have to change your position and the alarm would stop and you didn't have to wake up and stop it and reset it. Hope the new machine works for you!

Laurie's machine is called " sleep-safe " and it is very quiet - until it alarms !!! Good luck with the new one .

Two alarms last night......one concerning the red clamp bag, I just repositioned the top bag and that fixed that. then a air volume alarm and just pressed the Stop then the OK button and went back to sleep. This morning I had pain in my shoulders, but that's gone now. I got the old one packed and ready for pick-up tomorrow afternoon. Most all the trash out to the dumpster for "Garbage day" Tomorrow I get the boxes flattened and take those out. I didn't realize how much I liked the cycler until I had to do manuals for a couple of days!

Glad to hear your new machine worked out!
I hate doing manuals and is it just me but after a couple of days of doing manuals I just feel blah and get puffy?

We had a love/hate relationship with our cycler while I was on it. It seems like ours would overfill me on some nights and I was never sure just how accurate it was with it's reporting of how much drained versus how much went in.
I did develop a umbilical hernia after a week or two on it. I cannot say that it was the cycler's fault, bit it was my main dialysis method.
I did do manuals on weekends and other days off. If I hadn't been working full time I would have preferred to do only manuals. It is more certain and you are in total control. With the cycler what you get is what it gives you.

Been on a Liberty cycler for a couple years now. The first one worked great for about a year then decided it was tired and kept erroring out when going through the set up. Called the 800 number and after a couple of work a rounds didn't help, they sent another one the next day. That one worked for a couple days and started acting up, so they sent another one. That one worked for another couple day and same thing. In talking with the tech, I found out they had upgraded the software version. SO I suggested that the manufacture ease off the controls in the software. Don't know if they took my advice, but the next one they sent has been working just fine for over a year now. Knock on wood that I didn't just jinx my machine. Grumpy

I had a power serge a week ago and after talking to the tech and telling they some info that the machine recorded, I started a new session.... at 1:30 in the morning! So it was almost 2 am when I was up and running and didn't get unhooked until 10:30. Twas a good thing it didn't happen on a Saturday night, 'cause I wouldn't have made it to church. I wonder if the nurse would frown on one taking a shower while hooked up?

I'm guessing some of you here already know my stance on the Liberty cycler....I DETEST IT! I'm not surprised at all when I read posts regarding a failure with the Liberty machine. I'm on my 8th Liberty...that's right...8th Liberty cycler since being forced to switch from the Baxter Home Choice cycler 16 months ago. I'm finally at my wits end with the Liberty and am attempting to get transferred to another clinic and get away from Fresenius completely. I really like the nurses and staff at my clinic but the quality of my treatment by Fresenius is unacceptable. Having to travel to get to another clinic will put more of a financial strain on me but if I am going to continue to do PD, and maintain my sanity, I have to figure out a way.

I don't thine the power surge was the machine's fault. The only experience I have had with Baxter was last summer we spent in Wisconsin and I was doing manuals. When I got there I was not having fluid
retention, but after starting with Baxter, I did. My feet looked like a squash with 5 sausages attached to it. Of course the Neph tried to tell me that I came to them that way. But I didn't. I spent most of the summer battling fluid overload. After getting back home I have very little fluid buildup. Go figger, eh?

Oh, so the original post was in regards to a power surge? I must have misread the entire thread lol. My luck with Liberty has been quite bad and I really have lost all faith in Fresenius, as a company. Although, through my 5yrs on PD, I've seldom had problems with fluid retention, I can agree that there is a difference between the way Liberty and Baxter cyclers draw it off. My personal experience with the Liberty has been less than stellar, and I know a lot of the patients at my clinic have expressed their dislike of the Liberty as well. I never "liked" being on dialysis, but since being forced onto the Liberty, I truly hate it and dread setting my machine up at night.

One the first one solution had gotten into the machine. I open the door to take the cassette out and it was dripping out of the machine. Mayhaps it was a bad cassette, I don't know.
