Title: Phos levels on short daily

What are phos levels like on short daily.  Do you have many food restrictions.  Do you have to take phos binders.

I'm not sure what direction you wanted to go but here is a few threads about Phos levels.

I don't think I was very clear in what I wrote.  Hubby has been doing Nocturnal since Oct.  But is having trouble sleeping and also having problems with anxiety.  He is changing to short daily for a while before he goes nuts or drives me crazy.  Just wanted to know what phos is like on sdd  compared to nocturnal.  I don't want him to have to go back to taking renagel because he suffered from heartburn when he was taking them.  We know what foods are high in Phos.  He followed his diet strictly for 6 years when he was in center.  Knew more than most nurses what foods he could and couldn't eat.

I wasn't clear on what you were asking. Maybe someone else can answer here to help. Sorry I'm not as versed as some of the others on this subject.

Well being on short daily my phosphorus has never been better, it's not great but it's not like it used to be. It won't be as good as being on Nocturnal but it won't be as bad as being in 3x week in-center. You have much less restrictions than 3x a week but it is not as flexible as nocturnal and I still take my binders (when I remember).

I take 6X800mg Renagel + 1000mg Fosrenol with each meal. I really tried to follow the low phosporus diet.

While doing PD my phosporus was in the 6 - 9 range (usually closer to 9). I itched like crazy.

In center Hemo, 3X per week yielded a phosphorus level of about 5. No more itching.

Short daily (2.5hr sessions) has yielded a phosphorus level of 3.7! And this with eating cereal every morning with milk (which I studiously avoided before) and enjoying chocolate every day.

I am in Canada and our levels are different.  Just so I know what is the normal range in the States?

Phosphorus range for general population:  2.2 -5.0 mg/dl
