Title: oh the IRONY!!
Post by: jadey on February 17, 2012, 10:07:07 PM: If you haven't read my previous posts... I have always mentioned how much I DESPISE my nephrologist and transplant team.

My university is giving out undergraduate awards for summer research experience and I want to apply. They want us to pick a professor we are interested in working with. Immediately I look under the faculty of medicine and chose a nephrologist who is doing studies on kidney transplants. It turns out that he is one of the chairs of the transplant program in my province. I just emailed him about my interest..

If I get the award and if he accepts me as a student.... OHH THE IRONY!!!

I just looooove creating biased and awkward situations for myself and others!!!! :sarcasm;

Don't get me wrong.. I truly have an interest in learning more about kidney failure and transplantation. If I get the job I can share what I learn on this board.

On the other hand, I can use this opportunity to turn the rules around at my transplant centre :2thumbsup;

This was all done by impulse. I shot him an email right after I saw the ad for the award. It feels like I'm going crazy.

You can, with a lot of diplomacy, manage to point out where they are failing the patients. (Just try not to bite your tongue off while you are figuring out the polite way to say what you are really thinking!)

Post by: jadey on March 15, 2012, 05:19:54 PM: It took over a 2 weeks for him to get back to me. Basically he said that he is not in a position to take any students in the summer... whatever that means. What sucks is..he is the only research professor in nephrology here in Manitoba.. sad.

Post by: Whamo on March 16, 2012, 06:17:02 AM: I think it's really cool you're going to study the kidney. I hope you find another professor to work with on your project. You're obviously highly motivated to learning how to fight kidney diseases. Where there is a will there is a way. You can do it.
