Not sure what you mean by post dialysis. Since I do PD every night all my values are post. I range from 8-10 depending on the day.

Maybe I'm confused since I'm still pre-D .... but I was under the impression that once you start dialysis,  they stop checking your creatanine levels entirely.   No ???????

They still check creatinine. They just don't care much about the number. They focus on hemoglobin, phosphorus, PTH, stuff like that.

Even though you are mostly right, doing that is very wrong according to a world known cardiologist I saw in Houston recently.
He went through the roof when he measured my fasting creatinine and found it to be almost 10 only 12 hours after I got off the machine!
He told me that with my body so full of toxins I can't be considered for any medical procedures.

He continued to say that any creatinine numbers above 5 are a clear sign of severe under-dialysis and that I should find another center to dialyse at.

It turns out that my center is using a small dialyzer for my body mass (most probably to keep cost down).

Checking creatinine post sessions is very important because it is the creatinine that we dialyze to get rid of.

It is not checked because it is an added cost to the center which will put a dent in their profits.
So they tell us "Hey your creatinine is high as it is, whether it is 5 or 10!

They should care.
Toxins kill.

wow!! do you know how many times i've asked the 'creatinine' question!!  and gotton that answer of 'it doesnt matter now that he's on dialysis'!!  Boy does that ever make me mad...  I do always check anyway and i tell ya, when it was at the 6 that i spoke of, well, he had been so depleated with anemia that i fugured it was 'just' that,  and then now dropped to the 4 and he's feeling very different.. (he has been having huge hemoglobin issues though as well, but now i see this, i do wonder what the diff in the D has been as im the one giving it or is it because blood was so thin, it just doesnt get 'touched' all over when it s like that)

My post once was a 6.
They usually look at KT/V but has anyone noticed that when you are in the er or the hospital they do look at the creatnine? why is that? Cause mine was high once and they said that I needed more dialysis.

Since starting dialysis my serum creatinine has doubled although the nephew don't seemto care and neither do I frankly.  After stressing out for so long over what my creatinine was doing, it's a relief to not worry about it (although there are other lab values to fret over). After all, what else can they do me beyond dialysis?

The best I had was the night before transplant hemo go figure - it was somewhere around 8 which was awesome for me. I usually ran around 12-15. 21 sent me to the hospital on PD.
