Title: not sure what's going on
Post by: sullidog on February 08, 2012, 12:41:39 PM
Ever since my access declotting procedure I've had hi bp. It's and some other problems. I will give you the rundown.
I sometimes get dizzy to the point where I feel like I'm going to pass out, sometimes I get mental confusion and disoriented.
I also get headaches behind my head mainly on the right side. Here's how my bp fluctuates, my sitting is a lot lower than my standing, my sitting is usually the top number is in the 130 catagory and the bottom usually is in the 80's to 90's. When I stand up my top goes into the 180's and the bottom into the lower 100's. Big jump huh? When they did an orthostatic to try to see what was going on, of course it didn't do it for them, go figure.
My hartrates have been normal around 80 to the 80's, no palpuatations that I can tell so far.
When I wake up I feel clammy and sometimes feel swetty, but no fever.

I've been to 2 er's, one just did a catscan and results showed everything was fine and sent me home, another drew my labs and those came back normal too so they sent me home. Also showed no infection and nothing was elivated.
I have no idea what's going on, but I'd sure like to know the answer and wish someone could tell me. Again, the crazy thing of all of this I felt fine before I had my declotting procedure a couple weeks ago, and my neph has never heard of a patient having these issues after one.
I will go see my v surgeon Monday so maybe he'll have some answers.
Do you guys have any ideas?

Well I don't know Sully.  If you were a diabetic, then you could attribute it to low BS, but since you are not, I really don't know! Your doctors should be able to tell you something.

keep us posted,

Hi, Sullidog.

It may not be related to your procedure. Are you under any additional stress lately that may be affecting BP?

Wish I had answers for you, or help!

Yes, but when I've been under a lot of stress before it really hasn't affected bp that much and I am a guy that can get under a lot of stress.
To be honest it does sound like symptems related to low bs although I'm not diebetic. I don't think they even did a glucose test on me. It may be something maybe they need to look into though. Even though it may not be diebetic it could be hypoglicemic.

Hmmmmmmm .........no infection ??  I had similar BP issues (standing changed drastically vs. sitting). It was after my fistula surgery and I had developed dermatitis on the hand my surgery was done on.  Used an antiobiotic and the symptoms passed.   Good luck.

Perhaps the Vasc. surgeon will know of something.  Or maybe a heart doctor.  Sometimes the additional blood flow back to the heart from the fistula can cause some funky symptoms.  Hope you get some answers!
