Title: Hi from WV
Post by: wvgirl on January 30, 2012, 02:34:30 PM
Hi, my name is Jeanne. I found out I had Kidney Disease when I was 21 years old. I started out seeing a Nephrologist yearly. About 6 years ago, when I was 39 it changed to monthly, then every 3 months and now I am 45 years old and am going monthly. I was diagnosed with IGM Nephropathy and still have 11% of my function left. I have had my fistula since October and my Doctor said it is almost ready to use. I am trying to get on the transplant list. It takes alot more time than I realized! I am not on dialysis yet.
I have been lurking on this sight for a few months and would like to thank you all for the great information I have gotten.  :)

Hi, wvgirl!

 :welcomesign;

It's nice that you have de-lurked!  :2thumbsup;

Now we can get to know YOU! (since you probably already know a bit about us!)  :rofl;

How are you feeling with only 11% function? Keep using that squeezy ball to strengthen your fistula!

Cheers!

Aleta

Hi wvgirl and welcome to IHD.  I'm so glad you like this forum.  Keep reading and learning so you can stay a head of the doctors.

It feels great to be out of the closet instead of lurking quietly. I still feel pretty good most of the time. Epo shots every other week are keeping the hemo up. My potassium and phosphorus are high right now, which is pretty new for me so I am really trying hard with the diet. My doctor said the binders will be needed my next appt if it doesn't come down. Even though my hemo is up, the past week I have felt very tired and I am having mild headaches daily. BP is great and has always been. I know dialysis is getting very near for me. At my blood test this morning, for the first time I watched the needle go in. It was actually easier that way. I read on one of the posts on this site that it helps to watch. I was pretty tough today, or at least I thought I was.  :boxing;  hehehe I love those little guys!!
