So my hon finally met with the hospital transplant team this week to have his evaluation and prepare for living donor testing, after months of misplaced paperwork, little communication and a couple of frantic phone calls from me. They told him I seemed "very assertive," and they were looking forward to meeting me. I think what they really wanted to say is, "where's that pain in the arse that keeps calling us??" but I'll wear it as a badge of honor. We're living and surviving well, and when it comes to his health, I will not be denied!! ;-P

You MUST be assertive, but you already know that! LOL! Good for you!

Good for you. You really need to fight your corner every time. He who shouts the loudest gets things done. I think that is it. :Kit n Stik; :Kit n Stik;

I hear ya! When my husband was listed, I'm sure they got "tired" of me! :rofl;
I bugged them for two years, trying to get them to let me donate! And when another potential donor contacted me because the center hadn't contacted him, I was all over it! Even pulled in a friend who is a doctor in a different department at the same hospital. I'm sure they are glad they fianlly found a really good match for Carl. They don't have to deal with ME any more!
Do wear that badge with pride! You deserve it and it goes a long way toward helping your guy!

I have been correctly labeled "assertive" all of my adult life. In the case of being hubby's advocate, I'm proud to wear that label.
Sometimes, being assertive is mislabeled as "aggressive". I once read the difference between aggressive and assertive behaviour is that an aggressive person will often start a fight, win or lose; the payoff is the battle. The assertive person often does not look for a fight but won't back down until they win.
In most things, especially if it means getting better medical care, I think persistence pays off. Good on you for being the assertive one! :2thumbsup;
