So, I was getting ready for bed last night and I had been feeling a little yucky all day, and I was walking across my bedroom and I just stiffened up from head to toe, couldn't maintain my balance and fell. I injured my left shoulder and my right elbow, my elbow being the worst. I literally couldn't move so I had to call the ambulance. The paramedics and the ER nurses took one look at how my elbow looked and were sure that it was broken. Fortunately, X-rays proved that there were no broken bones, but my elbow was and still is very badly swollen and it hurts like hell! They couldn't figure out why I just suddenly stiffened up the way I did. I'll be following up with my regular doctor and I will probably have tests done to try to figure it out. The possibility of having a mild seizure came to mind since my family does have a history of seizures. It sure was scary!

Wow. That really IS scary. I'm sorry you went through that. Please see your doctor quickly and keep us all updated on your situation. Take care of yourself !
-
Sorry to hear that, Adam.
-
Now that is scary. Hope you feel better soon and please keep us posted.

Adam that is awful, I hope you are feeling a lot better. The bruising on your arm will take a long while to get right. You are not having much luck lately my friend are you.Hope the docs sort out what went wrong. Was your blood pressure low or what?
-
Oh, Adam! :embarassed:
How awful. And, of course, the pain is going to affect your sleep and everything. :thumbdown;
Plus the worry of figuring out what caused it in the first place.
:cuddle;
I'll be thinking of you.

It must have been terrifying not to be able to move. Thank goodness you didn't break any bones! It does sound like a seizure or something else neurological, doesn't it? I hope you follow up with your PCP right away. All the best to you, Adam.
-
Glad you didn't break anything.

Oh Adam, I hope it isn't seizures, especially granmal! You will completely go out and when you come to, you will not realize it. Petimal is a trance like state of mind, where you just stare unaware of anything around you. I understand it is very weird type of seizure, but gran-mal seizures are very, very dangerous. They can come at any time and although you may have a aora just before it happens, you can not do anything about it.
I had Gran-mal seizures from '79 to '81. They did a brain scan on me and found a cyst or mass on left frontal lobe of my brain. I could not drive for a year until they got it under control with meds. Phenobarbitol and Dilantin was what I had to take back then. I was all the time having my levels drawn, it was hellish.
Then in Sept (I believe) l981, I went to a big auditorium where Billy Graham & another speaker were gathered for prayers. The other guy whom I did not know had called out my problems with seizures. I was shocked, cause out of thousands of people there, he did not call my name but my problems with seizures. I went down in front of him and he laid hands on my head and called the seizures out in the "NAME OF JESUS".
Went 3 weeks later and they did another scan on my brain, and the cyst or mass was gone! It was and still is a Miracle in my mind & heart. I will forever give Jesus the Praise & Glory!
Anyrate, Gran-mal seizures are terrible, and if I had been driving and had one, someone might would have been killed! Im hoping you find out what is causing your problems. Im so sorry Adam, it just never ends, but please try to hang in there!
Thinking & praying :pray; for you,

My mom had a grand mal seizure right in front of me and my dad. It was scary! She was just laying on the couch watching TV, and the next thing she knew she was in the hospital in extreme pain. It was so violent it crushed two vertebra in her back. I never lost consciousnesses, but I was reading about some types of seizures where you don't lose consciousness and just stiffen up for a couple minutes and then relax, which is exactly what happened with me. I'm sure I'm going to be having lots of tests. The swelling in my elbow has come down quite a bit, but it is still very painful.
-
Oh my goodness...I sure hope your docs figure out what happened. You take care of yourself, OK?

Adam, Im no doctor, but it sounds like you had a Petit-mal seizure. It can be dangerous too if not treated. But you don't go unconscous with Convulsions (Biting your tongue) like gran-mal seizures. The petit is almost trancelike state. I hope it is neither, but if your parents have/had them, it can be herititary.
Definately get it check out and please let us know!
God Bless,
