Title: Frustrated Newbie Wants To Say ........"HOWDY!"
Post by: Ravenwolf on December 30, 2011, 08:54:54 AM
Howdy all. My name is Anthony and I currently reside in a small city in northern California called Chico. I have "served" one year on in-center hemo and, two years on home PD.  I was diagnosed with ESRD in June of 2006 and started in-center hemo in Memphis, Tennessee in December of 2008. Moved to California in June of 2009 and, continued in-center hemo. I had wanted to start with CCPD but, was given the lame excuse in Tennessee of being "Too Tall". I know the real reason was financial. They feared losing money on it. However when I got to Chico, they were all too happy to accommodate me. I needed more suitable housing and in September of that year, I moved in with a friend in a large condo. I started CAPD in December and CCPD at the beginning of 2010. It has been a better experience until midway through this year, due to heart trouble culminating in a heart attack in October 2011. I am now battling with my doctor, not to have me do PD at night and some hemo in the daytime. It is only twice a month he wants but, as hemo is tough on the heart, I don't want any of it. It's my life to live so, I ain't budging. If he keeps pushing me, I will fire his butt and go somewhere else. Well that's me. Explosive from the start. I took all my orders in the Army and, I am not there now. I hope to be an asset here and thanks for this forum that gives people to speak their minds. Southern boys like me like that.

Wanted to go back on CAPD , but their is st mucxh scar tissue to do that so I am stuck on Hemo

Hi Ravenwolf   :welcomesign; to the site. I understand where you are coming from with hemo. My husband has been on Baxter's overnight cycler for nearly 3 years, he also had a heart attack which damaged his heart, it is not good. Our neph says he has to stay on the cycler because hemo would kill him because of his heart.I pray he dosnot get any infections. I can not understand your doctor wanting you to do hemo if you like doing PD. Stick up for your self.

Ravenwood:

I am from a small town in Northern California called Chico.  Actually I live in Yankee Hill up in the mountains.  I do my dialysis at the RIA center in Chico three times each week.  I am a Veteran as well.  If you need something and I can help, find me in the personal message thingy.

I understand your wish for independence but you need to remember those famous words that ring in the back of your mind: “Shape up Troop!”

By the way, Anthony was the name of my grandson who was murdered a few years back.

 Thank you everybody for the gracious welcomes. I am not always so fiery in a first meeting but, when it involves my life and health, i can get downright cantankerous. I did not have to make that trip to hemo after all. I explained to my PD nurse that I chose not to come because I felt more study needed to be done before decisions. I went to medical school a for a while so, I don't always agree with doctors. He agreed  because he doesn't believe it necessary either. After January labs we can all sit down and discuss the best options. Again thank you all for such a warm welcome.

 Why thank you willowtreewren. I was visiting with a friend one day and, his daughter noticed a picture I had in an album. She said, "You look just like that guy." I have used that picture for an avatar on everything else since then. For the record that is Luke Cage, also known as "Power Man", from Marvel comics. I did look a lot like that 2 years ago but, peritoneal dialysis will change your shape somewhat.

Yeah! I used to look pretty good, too, but hey, age will do that to you, too!  :rofl;
