Hello all. I am new to this site. I have been on dialysis for about 2 1/2 years now. I went into the hospital on an unrelated matter and was told "Your kidneys are fried" in those exact words. Still haven't really gotten to a cause after much testing. But, it is what it is!
I'm very interested in seeing what sort of insight I can get from this site.

"Your kidneys are fried." Not much medical lingo to wade through there! That's not the most precise diagnosis I've ever heard.
Then again, perhaps it doesn't matter unless perhaps you are considering transplantation. In that case, it might be a good idea to find out what fried your kidneys in the first place so that it doesn't happen to a new kidney.
Thanks for joining!

:welcomesign; Pharvey to our IHD family. I know it sucks when you're told your kidneys are fried... My Neph didn't use those words but pretty much said they would be fried in two to four years... been six now and they are pretty fried now LOL
It's so nice to have others to share this unfair disease with..... hope to see you post often

Welcome Pharvey & Greetings for 2012. Just how fried are they? Are you eligible for a transplant? You need to know what caused your kidneys to fail so that you can transplant in the future if you want.
If D. is down the road for you, then look into the different Modalitys. I would recommend doing dialysis at home, whether PD or Hemo.
Again Welcome & come here to ask anything, someone will have an answere!
God Bless,
