Title: Lights Out

I sit down after being weighed, blood pressure, and temperature and what happens? The power goes out. I am waiting for them to see to the other patients before they put me on.

sorry to hear that, hope you finished by now. Can I ask if you get something for your pretty high PTH? Or is it different where you are?

Nope, I'm a four hour run. Honestly I had no idea it was high. No one ever brings it up when we go over my numbers. Speaking of which I have new ones that I will put in later today.

ok, keep strong. My PTH was high for years cos no-one noticed, apparently its not good (for your bones, and organs, and eyes etc) At the moment I'm using Cinacalcet and it dropped from 700+ to around 10.

Does your unit have a backup generator?  Mine does.  When the power goes out, it stays off less than a minute, till the generator kicks in.  When it does, all the machines alarm at the same time, because the power went out.  The lights, machines, and tvs stay on in the treatment area, but the waiting area and the nurses break room and offices have no power.

Yup, that's what happened here. Well I don't know about outside the treatment floor.

My unit has a window that looks out to the main door and the waiting area. That's how I know that the lights are out there

If no one is paying attention to your PTH then someone is not doing their job. High PTH is quite detrimental and needs to be addressed.

At my old center we had to manually crank the blood pump, not sure about the new one though.
Also are they doing anything not only to your PTH but your low URr?
