Title: painful canulation
Post by: sullidog on October 11, 2011, 06:01:04 PM
Good evening all,
My graft in the past few treatments has been painful to canulate, It's not just the stick of the needle this feels like I've just been infiltrated canulation even though I really haven't been infiltrated, they stick through the skin just fine but when they go for the graft itself that's when it's painful and there's also a bit of pressure too until they hook me up. Once hooked up every thing is fine and it runs fine with no alarms, then they go to take the tape off at the end and the movement of the arm that infiltration feeling comes back. Anyone ever had this issue and know what's going on? These are different techs sticking me.

I'm wondering if the needle is hitting a stray nerve in the area of the graft itself.

Nope it's over a year old. Yeah I guess it could be hitting a knerve. They have started sticking it in a new spot, close to where the graft connects to the axilary vein under the arm pit, They are sticking very close to my cover stent that was put in as well. It hurts the worst when they go advance the needle
