Title: Can Home Hemo be done when you have a graft?
Post by: The Noob on October 05, 2011, 06:21:32 PM
i'm trying to get some info for a family at the clinic. they want to know if patient can do home hemo with a graft?
they have been told NO. reason given was "button holes cannot be done easily with a graft".

my reading says buttonholes are only for fistulas and the rope ladder technique is for grafts.

anyone chime in here?

I did NxStage with a graft and had no problems - at least none that wouldn't or couldn't have occurred in-center!

I've been on NxStage for 4 1/2 years, and I'm on my second graft. I've never had a fistula.

thank you! i'll send the word. told them they may have to go to different clinic with more experience. they have a drive too. there is no harm in at least getting answers.
