Title: My first PET test results are in!!!
Post by: tbarrett2533 on October 05, 2011, 05:08:47 PM
I had my first PET test Thursday and today I met with my Neph to go over the results and this is what he said:

1.  Creatinine and Urea are being removed!!!!   :bandance;
2.  I do not absorb
3.  I can continue to fill with 2000ml, 4 exchanges (CAPD) with the last exchange of the day being green, but I can choose whatever I want(yellow's Green's) for the remainder of the day just to keep my weight & BP in check.

He then looks over my labs which are PREFECT  :angel; has Mandy check my BP, Pulse, Weight, listens to my lungs, checks my ankles then says, "Well I can't seem to find anything wrong with you."   :2thumbsup; :yahoo; :clap; :bandance;

Next clinic visit is 10-19-11!!!!!!!!!!!

They (the D staff and Techs) when I was doing in-center hemo used to call me the "dialysis princess"  I think I will rename myself the Peritoneal Dialysis princess  :flower;

I am so glad to hear that. With all the problems you were having, it’s great that everything is pulling together so well. LONG LIVE PD! I was rooting for you all the way.
I do my first PET test on Friday. I hope I my results come out as good as yours.

Here are the results of my first PET  test:

High average membrane = which means the cycler is the best suited treatment modality for you because your membrane characteristics :
- very efficient membrane
-transports solutes quickly
- increased glucose concentration
- may have difficulty achieving ultrafiltration ( fluid removal ) especially on a long dwell ,being absorb by your body and that's where fluid gain comes in
- at risk for low serum albumin.

Apparently I’m filtering too good (a good thing?) because my phos went  from 4.1 to 2.6, potassium is down to 3.3 and my albumin went from 5.1 to 3.6.

Guess I’m going to have to stock up on more beer cheese and meat :beer1;
