Title: Dizzyness? Question - need advice
Post by: alewis328 on October 02, 2011, 09:21:45 AM
I need some help from the experts! D is super dizzy today. It is not blood presure related. When they discharged him from the hospital on Friday, they did draw him down very low in regards to fluid. Anyone have any suggestions on how to help him not be so dizzy?  Without landing him back in the ER tonight?  I didn't know who else to ask.  Thanks in advance for all your responses.

could just be being dehydrated though? Could also be something 'un-known' When I'm dizzy, and don't know why I just assume I'm too dry, and drink a whole cup of 'Cup-a-soup' it quite often works.
Good luck anyway

Also do an ortho statick bp on him if you can. In case you don't know what that is take his bp laying down, sitting, and standing and see if it varies at all.

sounds like they may have drew off a little too much fluid ?  From personal experience, I find if I crank up the UF a little too much I may wind up getting dizzy.

I ended up calling the doctor and he said it sounds like he is dehydrated. He drank a couple of G2's and did manage to eat a fair amount of dinner. He is still dizzy and so drained though. I hope that it is just dehydration. Im so nervous over him. But that has motivate me to get all this stuff done around the house today that I have been letting slide though....

I hope he starts feeling a little better soon. My husband is always dizzy. Mostly from low BP. In our case, it is a fluid issue but I'm sure they feel the same way. Just keep an eye on him when he feels like that. In that state, it's easy to take a tumble and get hurt. I know you know that. Plese let us know when he's starting improve.

am also wondering how much fluid they took off in hospital? DH used to get like after every D. they were taking too much. i now tell them no more than 3 kilos at a time and they stick pretty close to that. he had a habit of telling them to take all they wanted. no longer.

i second the drug precautions. one more thing to worry about i know. when he was on PD, it was a pharmacy in the house. now he is only on the vitamins and binders and zyrtec for hay fever.
let us know how the night goes. he may start to feel better by the morning.

I think it sounds like dehydration.  Hope he's feeling less dizzy today.

Hello all. Thank you for all your concern and words of wisdom. The night was a pretty long one.  But we made it through it without a trip to the hospital. I am thankful for that.  I am inclined to believe that it was a mixture of most of the reasons stated. Too much fluid taken off, major dehydration, etc. I get scared and flustered when I am not sure exactly what is going on with him or how to fix it.  I think he has gotten used to me saying "let me ask IHD!"
