Our new center does a 24 hour clearence test every 3 months. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is taking it to work. I was wondering, got any ideas on how to keep it cold? I don't wanna use the work fridge cause first of all co-workers steal from it even when your name is on something and also it's probably full anyways so there's no room for the jug, so any ideas on how to keep my urine fresh when you have to take it to work?

A small cooler thermos style bag with freezer packs inside to keep it cool?
Hopefully no one will think you're carrying apple juice around with you :P

I think I'd wait for a day when I wasn't working to do it, so I could just stay home.

The couple of times Blokey had to do them he always did them on a non-working day too; it made more sense. Is that a possibility Sullidog?
And as for keeping it cold ... are you supposed to? I don't think we ever did ... *insert non-existent blush smiley-emoticon-thing*

These 24 hour jobbo's are quite funny. Hubby did one last week. They gave us a huge plastic jug, hubby asked for a specimen bottle which they did not think was funny. I think he did equivalent to 3 tablespoons full. What a waste of plastic. But every little helps, so they say. I said I would contribute but he said no.

I remember the last time a jug was handed to me.. it was a few years ago now.... I started laughing, and had a hard time stopping... the nurse was nice enough to take the jug back..

when i had to do the 24 hour pee thing, i would time it over the weekend. The hospital was sort of flexible enough that I could bring it in monday morning.

I'm with McLane, I usually schedule mine for a delivery on Monday morning. Then I do my collection on Sunday when I'm home.

I will ask my clinical manager if I can do them on the weekend. They say they use them to see if someone needs to actually be on dialysis any longer, but if someones creatt from the labs is hi isn't that a good enough reason to have someone on dialysis?
