Hello all -
I'm a 39 yr old guy in SC. I am back on dialysis after having a transplant for 12 years. Prior to my transplant I was a dialysis patient for 4 years. Three of those years I was a home hemo patient after being exposed to Renalin in a clinic. I plan on going to home hemo in Oct. I believe I will be using the NXStage system. in the 90's I used a full hemo machine.
I am back in school and hoping home hemo will allow me to return back to work. We shall see.
I'll just be lurking and checking things out.
Thanks
Jeremy

Hi, Jeremy!
Don't just lurk...chime in and ask questions or vent.
There is a NxStage home hemo area. That was a great resource for me!

Welcome, I am so sorry that you are going "back" to dialysis. This board is a great place to vent and get your frustrations out. Tell us your transplant story, I find it interesting. I am hoping for a transplant from my brother in the the future, did you have a live donor, or were you on the list? How long did the process take you?
God Bless,

Hey JSG, and welcome to IHD. Was it a good 12 years? It is so hard to go back to dialysis after a transplant..... I know. I'm not on NxStage, but I hear it is a good option. I hope it works out for you. Lots of members here on it so ask questions if you want to.

I plan to use NxStage when I start dialysis, so I'll be eager to know what you think of it.
I'm glad you found us, and I hope you will post more than lurk. There is always someone out there who gets great support from people who post. Welcome to IHD!

Welcome Jeremy! My husband does NxStage at home with me his "cute" nurse as his sidekick. He can't have a transplant, he tried PD which did well for 5yrs. He tried In-center for almost a year (WE hated it)! And been doing NxStage for over a year now and honestly, we feel it was the Best modality for us. Would love to do Nocturnal or Extended, but because I work full time, I come home and D. him in evening.
He is so good about doing what he is suppose to. His labs have been great! He started 6 days, then 5 days a week, and now is doing 3 on and 2 off. We are so blessed! Because I can do him from 3 to 3:30 hrs a session. Yea that seems time consuming but he is getting good cleansing.
Now tonight, he had nothing for me to pull off as far as his dry weight was concerned, but I did put him on for 2:45 hrs. to remove toxins.
He feels great and is doing very well. This NxStage is an awesome little machine and I do believe you will find it to your liking! One thing is for sure, I hope he never has to go back In-center again. The only meds he takes is insulin if he needs to (it is Sliding Scale)and he hasnt needed it in a long time, plavix and his binders. That is it!
We are just enjoying each other company while he dialysis and it has really brought two people who are inseparable, closer together! Yea, you heard right!
I can vouch for this NxStage. Their tech support is second to none. It is fairly easy to travel with, but 75lbs is a little too heavy for me, but R&D has vowed to work on that! So I just put the little machine on wheels and wheel it whereever I want. The other evening it was so nice outside that I put in on fold down dolly and wheeled it out on deck and used the ready mixed bags. J. was on cloud nine. He loved it!
I would do anything to make him happy! He is my life.
Sorry about my writing a novel, but hey, Im excited about NxStage and my little man!!!!! :cheer: :bandance; :cheer: :bandance; :cheer: :bandance;
