Title: Not getting good REM sleep on CCPD
Post by: *kana* on September 04, 2011, 09:50:29 AM
Hello,
I have always fallen asleep easy and slept well during the night.   Well, at least I thought I was sleeping.  I've been complaining of really bad nausea in the morning and the inability to get myself up and going until around 2pm.  Neph says all my blood work looks good and there is no apparent reason why I should be feeling so ill.
A few nights a month I get a bit anxious about life and take an Ativan(we moved and everything has changed in my life).  I notice when I take an Ativan I actually have dreams and wake up feeling no nausea or anything.  I also don't need my mid day nap.

So I did a little test and not sure what to make of it.  For the last week I have taken Ativan before going to bed and wake up feeling good.   I don't want to have to take Ativan every night to get a good nights sleep, so what are my options?  I tried Benedril last night and I didn't sleep well, however, I also didn't wake with nausea.  I don't have a problem falling asleep just in getting that good REM sleep.

Suggestions?  Thank you

Whenever Hubby and I can't get to sleep, we take Ambien.  He has a prescript and I do to, but its probably been over a month since we took it. He & I both have really no problems sleeping.  His is from boredom all day and mine is just staying awake, so I can sleep at night.

But even if I couldnt go right to sleep after so long, I only take half an ambien and relax and fall off!  Don't know if that helps in anyway!

I complained to my Neph about not sleeping well. He refused to give me sleeping pills. And suggested I take Tylenol before going to sleep. It works for me. However, I only take Tylenol occasionally.

My problem is the deeper I sleep, the worse my drain is. When I sleep deeply I get terrible dwell times and a small UF. Strange I know.

Experiment with diff sleeping positions. When I sleep on my right side, I have easy drains and good uf. It must be the position of the end of the fathered.

Hubby has alot of phanthom pains that will continue to keep him up, not always but occasionally.  His neph prescribed Ambien instead of pain killers.  It works for him.  They are not addictive, but some of those pain killers can be!

Hope you can find other ways to sleep.  Maybe read a book or go walking before you lay down.  Or do some exercises, that generally will make you tired.

On one of the transplant boards years ago, someone said she massages her feet for 10 minutes and then she sleeps well. Can't hurt.
