Would you believe it? My unit (19 chairs) ran out of 16g blunts.
The nurse said she would use 15g. I was apprehensive — 15g is 26% bigger. Well, she says, do you want sharps instead? I settled for the 15g blunts. :'(

A dialysis unit that runs out of needles... ::)
Last year when I went for my initial transplant evaluation, I had to give numerous blood samples. They took 13 vials of blood (yes, I counted). About a week later, I got a call from the coordinator's assistant telling me that they had forgotten to type my blood. ::) That's like a dialysis unit running out of needles.
Did the 15g blunts hurt more?

My unit went through a spell recently running out of supplies. Twice they ran out of paper tape. Luckily I have my own. They have run out of the right sized needles before too. I complained to the center manager. It is not like they don't know how many patients are coming. 24 chairs, 4 shifts. A child would be able to do the math.

MM - during the initial transplant eval, the lab took 15 vials of blood from me. I pissed and moaned when the tech put them all out on the table and asked if I was going to be able to drive home afterwards, lol. She had to squeeze the last couple of tubes out of me! I have had well over 100 blood draws @ 3-10 tubes a pop since then. I swear I had button holes for a while!
Alas... they are not 15 or 16 gauge needles. I am sure I would pass out at the sight of one. Bless everyone who does HD and deals with the larger needles numerous times a week :bow;

That's crazy! How can they be doing that bad of a job with inventory? :Kit n Stik;

Stoday, I am very sorry what you went through...
I do hope you have better luck in the future.
Best wishes from Kristina. :grouphug;

Thanks for your sympathy all. :cuddle;
My buttonholes leaked a bit on the next session last Friday. I guess the 16g needles were a bit loose in the newly stretched buttonholes. :o OK last night though. :2thumbsup;

Our unit ran out of 15g and 16g needles and only had 17g which are smaller and so less blood was getting cleaned. Idiots! So all our blood work would look bad. I've also had to go buy my own paper tape because they didn't have any. And these CEO's make how much a year..... millions!??
