What does this mean. My husband was at dialysis and now they are talking about sending him to the hospital. What could cause these symptoms?
-
Not tto scare you but sounds like a stroke. very treatable but very te sensitive. I'd they think that just get a move on it
-
My husband has already had 3 mini-strokes...could this be a major one.
-
Hubby went in real fast Nd they rushed him in there's 'markers' and they can tell quite fast. What's going on Now
-
They are going to send him home?? They said if it gets worse to call emergency...How am I going to know if it is getting worse?
-
I always play on the side of caution. I would take him in but you will probably be able to judge better for yourself once you're with him. Hubbys wasnt a stroke and i dont even remember what it ended up, but they too thought it could be and they do stuff quickly to reverse it if it is one. I feel bad for you. ALL this stuff is scarry. Wishing you the best and :pray; Let me know ok.

there are what are called TIA's. they are like a mini stroke but don't last long and patient usually always recovers completely, but they can be a precursor. if you think its a stroke, you have the "golden hour" and the "platinum 20 mins". if treatment is given in this time frame there is good prognosis for full recovery.
i always asked my patients who presented like this if they could identify a familiar object, like a shoe or the remote control or what have you. we always asked them to make a "thumbs up" "the OK sign" and "the bird". these can tell alot.
basically though, if you think its a possible stroke, you don't know what is causing it and its best to have him seen in the ER. they can rule it out, and you won't be sitting there worrying. man have i been there..
:grouphug; :grouphug; :grouphug;
ps: you sound like you might be already knowledgeable about this. you can check pupils, see if they are equal and reactive to light, if there is one side of body slack including facial, foot, what is his alertness level, stuff like that.

I had numness in the face, they verified it wasn't a stroke it was a panic attack. I'd get him checked just to be safe.

i agree with sullidog :thumbup;

Finally some answers! Yes he had a mild stroke but he is going to be fine. :thumbup; Next time I am going to follow my instincts and just send him to the hospital.
