Hey everyone! I took a brief vacation & missed you guys! I am not in the habit of checking the internet when I'm away so I'm now getting caught up.
We're having an issue with pd bag temperature. We have a 48 quart cooler which we put the heating pad and 4 bags of solution in. With the pad on the lowest setting and the cooler cover closed, the bag that's been in longest (about 24 hours) is too hot and we have to let it sit for a while before using it. We tried leaving the cover ajar, but then the bags seemed too cool. We're just going by touch here, so maybe the bags are actually not too cool and we just need to know what temperature they're supposed to be. Any suggestions? :waiting;

I'm not sure what the right answer is for you. But when I do manual exchanges, I turn on the cycler, throw the bag on and let itwarm up while I'm draining. By the time the drain is don't, the bag is good to go.

Try a folded towel on the heating pad below the bags. Works for me. You may have to experiment on how much "padding" is right for you.

Was anyone told the optimum temperature for a fill bag? I don't remember anyone mentioning that to us.

I think somewhere between 98ºF and 104ºF is best. But I just fill with the bag at room temperature and I'm fine with that. I've never experienced a cramp of any sort from that, yet. Plus, no discomfort from a "cold" bag, plus, it feels GREAT on a hot day like that. To me, anyway.

when i was on the cycler, i bumped up the heat to 39, i've always preferred the bags to be on the slightly warmer side.

Also, i'm not sure if you know that you nuke the bag. Just put in the microwave for about a minute. Winter time about two minutes.

I'm scared of you guys who take em straight, no chaser! Right now, I don't think my bf is willing to try that.
And you'd think that a bag around body temperature would be best, like HoD said, but that's too hot for him. He turns all red and sweaty and it scares both of us. I'm guessing that somewhere around 80 degrees is comfortable for him. I'm gonna get one of those flat thermometers and start checking his bags.

I have the exact same set up except I have a larger cooler which holds a two day supply.....keep your heating pad on medium and you will be all set!!

Thanks for all the input! It seems that the magic potion for him is 5 bags in the cooler, standing on end (not lying down), single layer of towel over heating pad on low. His optimum temp is around 85 degrees.

How on earth do you do this Ron??
I would be dying cramped over on the floor in pain, then someone would have to call 911 and I would be in the friggin ER, ok maybe not that intense, but I can't do it at all!!!

I found out by accident and I just did it from then on out.

I found out during our trip from TX to WI. The bags were in their boxes in the truck box and when it was time to hook up, I just grabbed one from the back of the truck. For the most part I do heat them, but sometimes I don't have a warm one so I use one at room temp. An unheated one feels good on hot day though.

what he said. we were told "ambient body temp. but we nuked ours 3-5 mins. after a bit you will get to know if its too hot, and yes, a cool bag can feel good unless it causes cramps. DH actually liked the cool bags in the heat.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my body temp rarely is over 97 degrees in the morning when I take my temp for my records. Lot of times it's 95.+

Word. I average just over 97, barely.
