I've been to Hemet!  I have an aunt and uncle who lived there for a while not too long ago.  Small world.

I have a son who is autistic, so I understand the challenges.

Bet you're feeling a little overwhelmed.  Does your husband get his dialysis at home or in a clinic?

Glad you're here, and I hope we can help.  Just ask.

Misty, Welcome to the site.  :welcomesign; It will seem over whelming and scarey to start with but you will get use to it. You did not say what kind of dialysis your husband is on. Which ever, there is always some one on here that will be able to answer any questions you have. You are not a lone.

Right now all I know is he has the neck catheter and he is still in the hospital. He is being released tomorrow but we are having problems with our insurance. They are not saying when he is getting his permanent one. He is still very ill and I am scared to have him come back so soon. Our house isn't exactly sterile. We found out he has uremia today and he has a really bad infection on his foot...I am also worried they are going to send out adult protective services again. It just upsets him...always helpful when we are transitioning him home from a hospital stay.

I'm not familiar with Adult Protective Services and with what they do?  Are they in a position to offer practical help to you?  I'm wondering if your husband is too ill to be released from the hospital.  Are your insurance problems a factor in his early release, do you think?

Adult protective services is suppose to protect older adults and persons with disabilities from abuse, neglect and exploitation by investigating and providing or arranging for services as necessary to alleviate or prevent further maltreatment. They have done absolutely nothing for us...they make me drug test (i have been sober for almost ten years)...they threaten to take my son...the threaten to charge me with elder abuse, but have never done anything useful. Kaiser says they can't do anything further for him right now.

Welcome to our community, Misty!  You have been given a great deal to handle at your age!  But I am always impressed with the strength of the human spirit when faced with such challenges.  Now you have your IHD family to be there for you  :grouphug;  This is an excellent place for information, support and encouragement.
We have a lovely group of caregivers here on IHD - check out that section - supportive, caring and sharing.
Please read as much as you can, and post as much as you can.  We want to know how your husband (and you too!) is doing.

:welcomesign; Misty.  It's a pleasure to 'meet' you, although a shame about the circumstances.  I'm pleased that hubby is now home. Hopefully the insurance will sort itself out and you can start getting used to this new life living with dialysis.
