Name 10 tracks on your iPod/MP3 that you think best illustrate who you are, and then tell us why.
-
I don't know if I can do that... I mean, I have a playlist just for when I'm in a crappy mood and want to hear songs about desperation
-
I have over 9 days worth of music on my iPhone and only one song comes to mind that seems to fit because I got a new CD. Foo Fighter's Skin and Bones. However I am sure there are more songs that could apply that just do not come to mind.
This is a homework assignment....lol
1. Skin and Bones - Foo Fighters
2. Red Pill/Blue Pill - One of "The Marix" Soundtracks
3. The Wall - Pink Floyd and Korn
4. Safety Dance - Men Without Hats
5. Time Warp - Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack
6. World in My Eyes - Depeche Mode
7.
8.
9.
10.

OK, I can work with that. Which songs about desperation are on your crappy mood playlist?

your funny MM... I havent loaded any on my iphone/pod yet but i just finished listning to " like my mother does" by american idol second placer lauran alana (dont know how to spell her name.) but the song means a lot to me. Then listned to Scotty (the winner ) "i love you this big" and dang if he isnt just the neatest guy and he sais....... The song isnt about lovey dovey, just good ole love of family, friends, life.... Two good songs that i JUST finished listning to on this hear computer so seem fitting since they both relate to me and how i feel...and who i am.. ;D Well, those and if i could think of some crazy ole hippy song i'd add it but thats it for now.
-
Whoops, I messed up already after first song. I started listing ones on how I felt regarding health, not who I am. This is gonna be harder than I thought.

OK, well, I'll start with my list to give you a better idea of what I'm after (hint: it's my subtle way of being nosy)
"Every You Every Me" Placebo
"Jolene" Dolly Parton
"Born this Way" Lady Gaga
"Subrali Sa Se Subrali" (from a selection of Bulgarian folk songs)
Theme Song from Game of Thrones
"Tik Tok" Kesha
"Adiemus"
"Bransle simple" (old French court music)
"I Will Follow Him" (Little Peggy March)
"Speaking Unto Nations" (Beethoven's 7th as used at the end of "The King's Speech")
I choose these because they span different eras and genres and illustrate that I have a wide range of interests.
-
Harder than it seems. Seems only 2 songs I listed prior fit. Most of the CD's I have purchased over the years were for different moods or for classic Rock music and not how it illustrates me.
-
Ooooh, "Safety Dance"!!! Yay!
There's no right or wrong answer to this. Don't strain your brain. You can just rabbit on as you like!

I do have something to do with rabbit from the Matrix movie soundtracks
How about "She blew me away with science" - Thomas Dolby?
-

ok. I checked my top 25 played songs.. and they mostly look like my melancholy song list, and Twilight songs.. *L*
1. Last Night on Earth - Green Day.. This is one that I play when I'm missing my friend, Kelly
2. Long Day - Matchbox 20.. There's a line in this that I totally think is me. "I'm so terrified of no one else but me"
3. I Wanna Be There - Blessed Union of Souls.. This is another Kelly song, of wanting to be there to help her, and not being able to, although, the circumstances are different for us than the song
4. Be My Escape - Relient K
5. Dancer in the Dark - The Rasmus
6. Who I Am Hates Who I've Been - Relient K
7. I Need You - Relient K.. This one is really desperate, digging up sand, looking for something you can't see
8. Never Knew - The Rocket Summer.. This song is actually rather uplifting
9. The Line - Battles.. I think this is an awesome fight song. I'm sorry they only used a few seconds of it in Eclipse
10. How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep - Bombay Bicycle Club
-
HOD, I swear you just made those up, didn't you. "Decrepit Birth"...oh sure. :P "Pig Destroyer"! My son calls me most days from London, asking me to look up such and such band on You Tube playing such and such song; are any of your choices on You Tube so that I can go and check to see if they really exist? ha
Riki, I don't know Relient K...can you tell me more about him/her/them?
rsudock, I haven't thought about "From a Distance" by Bette Midler in decades!! That used to be one of my very fave songs; I'll add that to my playlist. I quite like Adele..she has such an interesting voice. I saw her on The Graham Norton show on BBC America a few weeks ago, and she really surprised me. Her music can be moody and contemplative, but on the show, she was anything but!! She was hysterically funny!

5. Rock Lobster - B-52's
6. Working In The Coal Mine - DEVO

Seems tho I have listens to other songs more than these tho.
I thought that too! But I think it's partly to do with the random shuffle feature. Makes me wonder just how random that algorithm really is! When I've made up separate playlists, some of those rarely show up at all.

Only one I agree with is Foo Fighters. That was one of my newest CD's I uploaded onto iTunes to my phone. Odd it did not list songs from 5 other new CD's.

Mostly everything can be found on YouTube. In fact, please seek out Opeth on YouTube. They are one of the best bands, metal or otherwise, period.
-
I actually HAVE heard of Opeth. :clap; I'll go youtubing when I have a bit more time.
-
Metal, great driving music on a certain highway in Illinois :2thumbsup;

Indeed! Load up some great riffs and hit the open road!

I had more music when I had an iPod but now that I switched to an Android device, I don't have as much music any more. Here's a bit of what I currently have:
1. Roll With The Changes - REO Speedwagon
2. Young Americans - David Bowie
3. Dear Mr. Fantasy - Traffic
4. Love Will Keep Us Together - The Carpenters
5. The Whiskey Ain't Workin' - Travis Tritt
6. You Should Be Dancing - Bee Gees
7. Once Bitten, Twice Shy - Great White
8. Time for Me to Fly - REO Speedwagon
9. Afternoon Delight - Starlight Vocal Band
10. Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes
I think these all represent me fairly well. :2thumbsup;
-
[Riki, I don't know Relient K...can you tell me more about him/her/them?
I really don't know anything about them. The only reason I have the songs is because they were part of a soundtrack I downloaded, created for a Colbert fanfic, and I really just liked their sound.

Sorry to dig out a post this old, and if I broke an IHD rule, sorry in advance. With a lot of new people joining, I thought we could a enjoy few more runs, and I liked it, thanks Moosey. I do believe that the music someone chooses to listen to does in a way define them, and tells a lot about them. The kind of songs that when they come on they make you stop whatever you are doing, or make you scream and shout. So to continue trying to help everyone here begin to understand who I would like to think I am, here goes my top ten;
1) Breath In, Breath Out Move On, Jimmy Buffet is telling a story about overcoming Katrina, shake it off and move on...
2) Wildfire, Michael Martin Murphy. It was the first song I really ever heard, on a jukebox in a dive bar/bowling alley, in Batavia, Ill. I was like 15 maybe.
3) Live Like You Were Dying, Tim McGraw (no explanation should be needed here)
4) Where the Boat Leaves From, Zac Brown Band, starting to get the feeling I would rather be on an island somewhere
5) Be As You Are, talks about just being a local on St. John, USVI Talks about the Quiet Mon Pub...been there...nice to relate to an actual place in a song.
6) Busted In Barbados, Bankie Bank, just a really fun song
7) Godzilla, Blue Oyster Cult. Left over from my "enlightened days"
8) Rolling In the Deep, Adele. Just love her voice.
9) December, Collective Soul It's a Killa'
10) Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Love the singer songwriters of the late 60's and 70's, and with my love of the water.
So many others and really, I just shuffle all. I loaded em' so I must have liked em'. Hard to pick between Rush or Muddy Waters, Led Zepplin or Montgomery Gentry, Metallica or 10cc...I do tend to stay away from extremes and just have not got the hip hop thing yet...??

How did I miss this thread last summer?! I must have been a busy bee not to notice it.
I'm off to Hospital in a bit but will definitely come back to it tomorrow.
Sorry to dig out a post this old, and if I broke an IHD rule, sorry in advance.
Don't worry about that! I'm glad you resurrected it.
;D
