Title: Pain in fistula after dialysis
Post by: ESRD Survivor on August 03, 2011, 09:05:29 PM
A few times after dialysis my arm is very sore.  Its hard to move it as well.  My husband came home from work and tried to hug me, but touch my arm and I yelled in pain.  My fistula is new, only been used about 2 months.  My buttonholes are close to being established.  I had to take some Tylenol before bed in hopes it would help.  It feels like someone slugged me really hard in my arm.

Is this normal?  Should I be worried?

How did your run go?  Is it swollen or bruised at all?  Sometimes the vessel will get "tired" and spasm a bit, which hurts.  If the pump speed isn't turned down when this happens, to give it a rest, you could be in a bit of pain for a while.  If you've only been using the fistula for 2 months, it's still new, and still developing.  I've been using mine for over a year, and it still spasms from time to time
