hey, i'm Julie, 30, from Southeastern PA. I started home hemo training 3/8.
I'm so sick of dialysis, feel like I don't have the time for it, and just overall burned out... anyone have any thoughts?
Also, has anyone ever suffered from random bouts of lazy eye/dizziness when they haven't dialyzed for a couple days, or even in general?
Thanks!

Hi there! Yeah, a lot of people on dialysis really resent the time it takes out of your life. Have you given any thought to dialyzing during the night while you sleep?

lazy eye could be thing you've had since birth, i know mine was.
dizziness is a result of dialysis

If this is your first round with home hemo - you may find a big difference in your quality of life. I did NxStage, and even with doing it more often (I did 5 days a week.) it still went from this horrible 3 day a week imposition/unmiss-able appointment to something that felt more like a household chore. I was at home, doing it while my friends (and cat!) called or wandered in and out, with my hobby stuff close enough at hand to work on, and my music or tv as loud as I felt like. My schedule and my start time, no waiting for a chair.
Hope you like the switch as much as I did!

Hi Julie, and welcome to IHD. I'm so glad you found us. Yes, it takes a huge amount of time. You are not on 4 hours..... you have to set up, clean up, do maintenance...... and the land of AND. I go incenter during the night. My days are free. And I still hate going. It just isn't natural. But even people who are normal hate to go PEE. How many times do you hear people say that. Oh, wait, I have to go pee!!
It is all relative.

Welcome, Julie to IHD. Iam caregiver to my husband who has been D. since 2004. He did PD for 5years, then In-Center for 1year, and at present doing NxStage at home. You hate dialysis, and so does everyone else! You would have to have your head examined if you said you loved it! But it is doable, and can become more routine for those who suffer this disease!
Youv'e lost a huge part of your life do to this disease, but you can and will manage it over time! It will get better for you! You have lots of people with IHD that know what you are going through and can lead you in knowledge the easiest way to deal with it! I love my IHD family, and am so greatful to have found them!
You hang with us here! Lots of really good people and full of encouragement!
