My exit site seems to be changing a bit. I'm colorblind, so I can't quite tell what it is changing to, other than it isn't a darker shade of me than it has been since I got it in February. I go to the Clinic on Tuesday for my monthly check-in, so I'll address it then. No fevers, no heat around the area, or any other indicator of infection.
Odd.

Any time I had a concern about my exit site, the PD nurse advised using Gentamicin (Antibiotic cream). A couple of applications seems to calm down what ever is going on. I now keep a small tube of it handy all the time. However, I only need it once in a blue moon.

DH is allergic to gentomycin cream, made him break out in blisters. neph said triple a was just as good. is it possible the skin around the area is healing, if so, it may change colors. just thinking..

Mine formed something the call a keloid scar (spelling?). It's not harmful but looks a little funny.

I've broken out majorly on my back in the past six months, but not one thing seems attributable to it.

My exit site changes colors too, from pink, to purple, or brownish-red. I chalk it up to the healing process (had done in April). My nurses say that's normal, and I use Gentamicin too, but I've never had a problem with this site. As long as there is no sign of infection, a lump (besides the cusp, I can feel mine right below my belly button), redness all around the exit site, and no fever, you should be fine!

what is your phos level? dh is always high and causes these break outs all over, especially on back and legs.
if he would quit sneaking to quick stop for the dr.pepper and hot dogs..
-
My phos has been between 2.4 and 6.1, but this was happening even in the low end, so I've discounted that's probability.

please let us know what docs says? i am very interested in this and whats causing it.
:cuddle; punkin

What do you use to clean it?
Do you by any chance use Exsept? Except is a bleach by product that could cause the change in colors.
Just a thought.

Well, I think it's the serum collecting near the exit site, I had some coloring on the bandage as I took it off for cleaning tonight. Plus, I'm an ACTIVE worker, bending, stooping, at work all day...
Even then, here is my clean exit site.
I use just everyday antibacterial soap.
It looks okay to me, now. I assume I was alarmed with no good reason.
