Can anybody comment on the "extended donor list" (I think that's what it is called). It was explained to me at my transplant evaluation as a transplant from a non-standard donor (ie criminal, over 50, etc.)
If I got the exact name wrong please forgive me as I'm a rookie at this posting stuff.

Google "extended donor criteria kidney", and you'll come up with scores of links to have a look at!

You probably should not consider extended criteria unless you are at least 50 years old, and then it is really down to how much risk you want to take.
I don't think criminal would be under extended donor criteria. At least in California, there are two specialized lists: extended criteria, from an individual who may have been older, diabetic, high blood pressure, conditions suggesting damage specifically to the kidneys; and then there is high-risk, which theoretically carries extra likelihood of contracting disease (AIDS, hep).
