Hi! My name is Shellie, and I am new to this site. I was diagnosed nearly ten years ago, started home peritonel dialysis in 2005, and clinic hemo dialysis in 2008 after a severe illness. I'm one of the lucky ones-the clinic I attend is very, very good. Yes, there are a few minor things that need attention, but overall, the experience each time i am there is wonderful. I have a brother who was diagnosed nearly 15 years before my diagnosis, and has since received his second transplant-one from our sister, and one cadaver. Hopefully, I will be getting one soon!
I hail from the beautiful state of Montana (big sky country). Home of Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and more clean, gorgeous blue sky than most of you can even imagine! I'm one of 10 kids (yep...catholic parents!) and was raised in a small town. I'm blessed with a wonderful nephrologist who is more like a good friend, along with a great support staff of nurses, social worker, dietician, etc...
If anyone wants information about Montana, please drop me a line...it's a beautiful state. And yes, we do have paved roads, running water, and electricity!!

How about indoor plumbing? lol. Just kidding. Never have been to Montana.
It is nice to meet you. And I do like your attitude, positive. And you are fortunate to have a good D unit with good support. Sure, sitting in that very comfortable chair three times a week and looking around, one is apt to observe that some things can be improved. I wonder if there is a suggestion box?

LOL@Shellie - welcome to IHD!
Montana is on my list of states to visit (I'm wanting to visit all 50 in my life, so far I'm around 26 or 27- I lost count) plus I get a bit of a kick out of the name "Bozeman" :rofl; it does sound like lovely country with wide open spaces and lots of fresh air.
I'm so glad you have a great support staff around you and your family - in many ways that can be all the difference to living with this disease!
So glad to have you wish us and look foward to seeing more from you!

Hi Shellie, I live in Washington and have been to Libby and I don't think they have electricity yet, but just guessing. :-*
Welcome to our site. Any other siblings willing to give you a kidney? Hope Hope?
I'm glad you found us.

Hi Michele!
I'm from Bozeman MT. Right now I live in Minnesota and after 20 years here, I still haven't adjusted. I'd move back in a second, but I have an extremely healthy 90 year old mother and the bad kidneys, so I guess I am stuck.
Welcome!
Cindy
