Title: Fort Collins CO
Post by: ESRD Survivor on June 27, 2011, 05:52:50 PM
I will have dialysis here twice next week while I am on vacation.  Does anyone have any experience with this center?  I was told no food or drink, but my social worker says they can not deny you to have water at any center and my center said the same thing, but everyone brings a snack and drink.  They also gave me a horrible time, noon, smack dab in the middle of all the activities.  Do you think I could call to see if I could change my time, or do you think it is set in stone?

Any info is appreciated so I know what to expect, its my first time away from home doing dialysis.

I don't know about the dialysis center rules, but there's not much they can do if you have a snack. Yes, I would tell them you need to change the time.

You can call to see if they can change the time but be prepared to have to settle for the time they give you.

I had the same issue when travelling last week.  I requested a Friday session at the travel center three months in advance and there was no Friday session to be had.  My SW called a few days beforehand and I called the day beforehand and I was still stuck with Saturday morning.

I think most centers try to staff only for the patients they have and/or try to keep their chairs filled.  Sucks when you are trying to get into a center for travel purposes.
