This is officially the first day of summer for the Northern Hemisphere. I live in the Caribbean which in reality has summer all year round. However, it does get hotter around this time. And this year is turning out to be a scorcher. Right now it is 32ºC (90ºF) This is too hot for me!
What is the weather like where you are, my IHD family member?
-
We are sitting at 91F/33C and hazy - a typical summer day. Plus we have high humidity. It makes being outside a bit unpleasant except in the morning and evening hours.

76 sunny NOT RAINING Here in Oregon/Washington
-
It's 109 degrees here right now and they're forecasting 115 degrees for tomorrow. But at least the humidity is sitting at zero.

Catllekid passed the tornado weather on to me here in West MI as it blew on past Chicago. We got hail, high winds, torrential rains and tornado sightings, although as far as I know - no touch downs, thankfully.

High 90's all week. Today we are shrouded in smoke. There are fires burning on the coast for the past 5 weeks and today the winds are blowing it over Raleigh. Visibility of about 1/2 mile and the air quality is horrible. Not part of our typical summer! But the house is cool, so I'm not complaining!

Bajanne, Winter solstice for me. At the moment, it's about 10 degrees (c) but the wind chill factor brings it down to 4 or 5.

Total weirdness from Mother Nature here today. I looked out the window as I was getting ready to leave today. It was sunny, breezy and lovely. I grabbed my keys, my purse, and my garage door opener. Flicked off the light, locked the door and walked across the breezeway and down the steps. I started across the driveway to the mail boxes, which are in a drive-thru opening between the banks of garage doors. I was two steps from the archway when the skies opened up. I dashed the last two steps and stood under the archway for 5 minutes while buckets of water dumped out of the sky. It poured so hard that I had to keep backing up to get away from the rising flood that was overwhelming the drains. Then it all blow over completely as fast it as had arrived. It was sunny for the rest of the day. :urcrazy;

How does one live at 109 and 115? I have never experienced that in my life. I have experienced a 102 and would hope we would never get there again!!

Heh. Practically (and mentally) speaking, summer in Phoenix is just like winter back East; it's just that instead of dashing from a heated house to a heated car to a heated office, you dash from an air-conditioned house to an air-conditioned car to an air-conditioned office.
I'd take 115 degrees here over 90 degrees in Florida or Nebraska ANY DAY. You don't sweat or have sticky clothes here. It's like living inside a dryer.

Rain and thunder storms, but its better than snow. Here in New Jersey.

Some sun today will push temperatures to 90 degrees, but high humidity will make it feel like 100. The chance of rain today is 60 percent.
Its so hot and muggy by 10am its miserable- I love florida from October to May- but the other half of the year is indoor AC activity. I like to go garage saling- inthe summer its over by noon- its just too hot.

We've been overcast all week, with lots of breeziness and copious amounts of torrential rain, plus the odd thunderstorm. Tomorrow we are forecast a very hot day. But this is the UK, so it's to be expected (and us English folk do like to be able to
grumble talk about the weather).
;D
(Sugar, please stop taking your clothes off and bring the Chicago sunshine back to East Anglia, kthanx.)

Oh Bajanne, if 90 is too hot for you (and that is hot), don't come to Texas (although I would love for you to come to Texas :kiss;) We got some rain earlier in the week, so we haven't broke 100 this week, but we were hitting 100+ in May! I hate summer. :(

We had rain.. started in mid March and went straight till June. By the Victoria Day weekend, some farmers hadn't gotten their crops in yet, cuz it was just too wet. After that, if it wasn't raining, it was just cold. We were lucky to break double digits (that's Celsius for all you Merkins.. *G*) The last few days, though, they've been great. Today (Saturday) it got to about 21C, not hot, not cold. I've liked not having to put a sweater on to go outside for a change. Right now, it's about 4:30am, Sunday morning, and it's 16C outside, and it's supposed to go up to 26C. I am happy. Bring on the heat. This is what I suffer through the winter for

In Sydney, we've just had the coldest May in 25 years (so much for global warning) with no days above 20. Still generally it's sunny although rather chilly which means that only the brave have coffee out doors. Spring is due September 1st in our latitude and it can't come quickly enough.
Our camellias have just finished and the grapevines are bare branches, but the gum trees are magnificent particularly the white trunked eucalypts.

In Tenn. it is 88 degrees, and hazy looking!

It is in the 90's here, but not too humid. Everything is drying out. Need rain!!!!

Supposed to be 114 - 117 here tomorrow...

All these descriptions of summer are killin me! It has been a really cold winter here in South Africa - many areas have had snow which was most unusual, floods and such oddities. Spring slowly approaches; blossoms on trees and birds emerging from wherever they have hidden during winter. Will be good to return home in daylight again! It is 8 deg Celsius a the moment, but will peak to near 22 later in the day. (good!)
