Hi people. I join you all in facing the end of this life and looking at the next. I'm male 31 years, single, no kids, no wife, out of work (health reasons), some family and friends, and not sure about living this way. I have always enjoyed my days like they might be the last and now they seem to be. "Sex drugs and Rock and Roll" lifestyle has run out. Not sure if I can do it anyother way. Especially this way!!!

Hi Lost sheep! You are around my age and I know exactly how you feel! When I had to go on dialysis in 2001 I was up for a long awaited promotion in a job where I was required to work 12 hr shifts .. and no way I could do that with me having no choice but to start doing dialysis. You have a sense of everything you have ever achieved being flushed down that drain!
But after the initial shock and the mental and emotional adjustment to the loss of total control and freedom over your life, and with the support of all around you, you will pull through it! it is better than the alternative right? And then soon your learn that there is more freedom than at first, it just takes time and adjustment and acceptance. We will help any way we can ;)
We are here for you and are glad you are here! :welcomesign; :grouphug;

Hi Lost Sheep. Thank you for your introduction but I have a few more questions?

Welcome Lost Sheep, I know I already replied to your other post, but I wanted to welcome you to the site. I do understand how you feel; I started PD on December 7th. The first few days, when I had to do four manual exchanges a day, I would sit there looking at that dialysis fluid pouring into me and thinking, this just can't be the way my life was meant to be. I only had about 4 hours between exchanges and I felt like dialysis was all I ever did.
But, things really do get better. I have a cycler now, and, while I wish I wasn't on dialysis, I feel like my life is more normal again.
I have read all of your posts, and I think you still have a lot to offer the world, even if you feel you have had all you want from it. Just think about what you can give, instead of thinking about what's left for you. :welcomesign;
