Hi Roseann, and welcome to IHD. I'm so glad you found us. I'm part Scot and live in the USA. Your story sounds a lot like mine. Have they tried placing a fistula or graft in your upper leg? That is what they say they will have to try next on me. But, right now my fistula in my upper arm is behaving itself.
Hang in there. Come here for support and vent if you wish.

Bloody hell, gallagherrose! That threat of death by exsanguination always lurks in the background, happily you and your brother fought it off.
16 admissions in (2 years?), 4 already this year! I have to say it's not a surprise that you are depressed. You need a break, a rest for your body and mind to heal. I know there's heavy pressure to have a fistula or graft, but if your permacath is working well with no infections, tell 'em all to "bugger off" and grab yourself a breather. I hope your 6th attempt goes well and puts an end to this string of hospitalizations.
Greetings Roseann and :welcomesign; to the neighborhood. There's lots of good people and good information here (and some odd types who would try to welcome you by attempting to use your own slang, was it properly used?) I am looking forward to seeing your posts.

G'day Roseann, welcome to IHD!
I shuddered at the image of your burst fistula and all that blood!! yikes! I have never heard of that happening before. I am so glad you rbrother was able to save you and that you're still around to tell the tale!!! I'm just sorry you've had so many follow up problems in that dept. Do they even know what caused it to happen in the first place? That would have been just a wee bit scary (that's a true understatement - you know we scots are frugal by nature :) ).
It's great to have you wish us. I always like a nice scottish lass (though Glasgow is a bit grey and drab for me and my family's from up north in Aberdeenshire anyway >:D). I understand how down you must be at this point with your trials and tribulations. Hoping things settle down and we can help you through this tough time, and you can add to our community through your many experiences of both transplant life and dialysis.
Again, welcome!
