Other than telling the doctor's office or the lab, what else do I have to do now that Medicare is primary for me until November? (post transplant Medicare)

Pharmacy? Not sure how yours is set up though, Hospital if they have that information can wait unless you use their labs. Other than that I think all you need is your insurance card that will be your primary.

I would contact the SW at your TC and see what kind of help he/she can offer. I'd also contact the Kidney Foundation and RSN. The fact that we have to worry about this in this country is absolutely ludricous. Makes me want to marry someone overseas in one of those more progressive countries.

My husband actually did not lose his medicare coverage with his 1995 transplant. Not sure what the laws where then.
Just look forward to the new tax deductions you incur with your co-payments?
I would also ask for a letter from Medicare to give your primary coverage. I spent over 20 hours arguing with BCBS of NC regarding payment status years ago.

I'm in the process of renewing our Aetna coverage in June and I was told by our coordinator that just to make sure where ever I'm receiving treatment knows to file to Medicare first. Then she said if Medicare sends a letter stating "Your Medicare coverage ends on xyz date..." send that to her and she'd get that to Aetna.
