Title: Hi from the UK
Post by: TonyH on May 15, 2011, 07:44:29 AM
Hi, I am new to the board so thought I would say hello. My name is Tony and I am from the UK. I have been on dialysis for a year but had a failed transplant in August 2009. My wife was a live donor and this started well however on 16th October the artery ruptured and I lost the kidney. It was only due to the fact that I was in hospital at the time I survived. I was on life support for two weeks in icu having lost so much blood and having the kidney removed. As a result I am back on the transplant list and having dialysis at home. I am new to the boards and am hoping to get some insight into how other people cope with dialysis.

Hi TonyH and welcome to the neighborhood! I think you'll like it here, there's a bunch of nice people and a wealth of information. I am sorry about the lost kidney and wish you good luck with home hemo(?) and a short and successful stay on the transplant list.

It appears that you are a traveler, I am headed to your travel posts!  :beer1;

Happy trails!

Aw, Tony! That is too bad about the lost kidney, but fortunate that you were in the hospital!  :bow;

Welcome to IHD!  :welcomesign;

Good place to get information and the folks here are nice, too.  :flower;

Hi Tony, and welcome to IHD.  I'm so glad you joined us.  Did they say why the artery ruptured?  I'm glad you pulled through.  It would make me a little scared to get another transplant.

Hope you feel at home here.

Welcome Tony.  Sorry about the kidney loss!  What an awesome gift from your wife, even if it failed!  She has done this for you out of love! How admirable and special she is.  How is she doing?  I want to give my husband one of my kidneys but he has other health issues that prevent that!

Are you doing NxStage at home?  If so, what do you think about it?

Glad to have you & you will learn alot here at IHD!!!!
