Title: Lab Talk
Post by: HouseOfDialysis on May 12, 2011, 02:19:59 PM
I got my monthly lab results today along with the my first Kt/V.

Kt/V was 2.4, which my clinic nurse was thrilled over.
Estimated GFR =  51.22

All the fun stuff is as follows:

Phos 4.3, up from 2.4.
Alb 3.6, no change.
Potassium 3.7, down from 4.0.
PTH 379
Hemoglobin 11.4, up from 10.6.
glucose 83, down from 92, down from 99(consistently lowering.)

My nurses want me too keep doing what I'm doing, so I shall carry on.

Be careful -

Your Potassium is about to be low enough where you might begin to experience symptoms of hypokalemia.

Your albumin is at a level of potential malnourishment.

I was at 4.0 on the Alb, but it seems I can never eat enough meat. My consumption actually increased probably 25%, but still a lowered result. I also eat eggs almost every morning, may have to up my intake.

My potassium level ran high naturally before dialysis, but it seems the big D has leveled the playing field with that. It's time for GUACAMOLE!
