Title: question on a skip dialysis day
Post by: babycake on May 07, 2011, 04:37:38 PM
i have appt with ohsu in portland on the 11th and 12 of may
so i wont be diallizing on that wed
the center gave me a choice if i wanted to dialzie back to back(meaning monday and tues)
well that was my choice so im not going to do tues
so my plan was just go 2 days instead of 3
im wondering would that be a problem and have any idea of what ohsu would say

and besides that i have appt on tues to see the surgeon that did my anigiogram(this is a 2nd follow up)
so you feel that i should be ok for i have skip a day before and i had no problem

i think this ones pretty individual... hubby can skip and feel just fine (i dont know that he 'IS' fine, but he 'feels' fine anyway) where others get really sick if they skip.  Hubby still pees lots, and some dont.  It'll be interesting what ya get here.  And, i think the occasional is probably ok for anyone???

Your Social Worker in your unit should get this approved by your insurance. I have had the same problem with ins and it is doable. You are harming yourself longterm with skipping.

I've had to skip once do to a problem with something in the center and felt find but do not make a habit of this. As far as your appointments go try to either schedule them on a non dialysis day or before or after dialysis if you have to do them on the same day.

My schedule is 5 days a week. I pick and choose the says I don't dialyze because I also work part time. I can skip several days and I have no problems at all as long as I watch my fluids. I think the fact that I still urinate several times a day and I also work a physically intense job (FedEx) helps me keep healthy. Eating right might help too.
