My husband's right side of his body went numb on Friday evening after dialysis. Went to ER stayed overnight for oservation and released Saturday. Yesterday after being unhooked on dialysis it happened again rushed by ambulance to ER and a CT Scan was done. They think it may have been a mini stoke but not sure. Has anyone else had min strokes prior to a major stroke and how long in between?

I have no experience of this so am unable to answer your question, but I just wanted to send you *huggles*. Also, will this postpone the option of home-dialysis?

I am not on Dialysis yet,
but I have had a few ischaemic attacks (mini-strokes) before suffering a major stroke.
The ischaemic attacks gave me “black-outs”,
I fainted whilst going shopping etc., not knowing how I got there etc.
It was very confusing.
I knew something was terribly wrong
and went regularly to the doctor,
but he did not check my blood pressure
and so my uncontrolled high blood pressure went unnoticed.
The major stroke I suffered left me half-sided paralyzed,
unable to speak or eat/swallow for a long while afterwards.
It was a very hard job to get my walking and speaking back
and as I speak several languages,
I had all my languages mixed-up for a long time,
until everything “got back in order again”.
The mini-strokes happened in the months before the major stroke.
My problem was uncontrolled high blood pressure
and I had no medical help to get my blood pressure under control.
Make sure your husband’s blood pressure is under control
and make sure he is not under any pressure or any stress.
I do hope he can keep his blood pressure well controlled.
Good luck from Kristina.
