We had great baskets when I was a kid, a little candy, a couple games and a comic book. My kids have always gotten baskets from the Easter Bunny, but not this year. My youngest is 16 and he was the baby for so long (5 years younger than child #3) so for years we all kept hiding eggs and having a hunt before a big breakfast. This year our 2nd daughter is away at college so we had an Easter feast 4 weeks ago when she was home for spring break. So today seemed like something was missing. I cooked lots of bacon and cinnamon french toast, got some fresh orange juice and woke everyone up (3 "kids" slept past 10, including my hubby.) No egg hunt today, no baskets. It was much easier for the Easter Bunny this year, but I know she misses the surprise and fun of the earlier years.

I was planning on going to my friend Dean's parents house for Easter Dinner/ 50th birthday for Deano. But, I caught a cold and there was no way I was going coughing, sneezing, runny eyes, and very tired. Didn't want anyone to catch this. I was also supposed to get up early and hide the 10 eggs I'd put together for the neighbor kids, and I forgot. I put them out when they went to Church but now the eggs are gone. Someone probably stole them!
The best Easter Basket I got when I was a kid was one that had the 45 of "The Candy Man" by Sammie Davis Jr in it. I played it a thousand times.
Anyway, I don't feel alone today because I have my IHD friends. :basket:

We did the family dinner today - complete with salty ham, hot cross buns, fancy desserts, earless chocolate bunnies, an egg hunt, and sugar comas for everyone under the age of 12. ;)

I miss the ole days when family members got together for a feast at Mom & Dads. What a spread of food for all to enjoy! Not just Easter, but birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving......ect. They were the Best of Times!!!! I just wish the younger folks could experience those days. Few still do, but not many. Times like these really make me Miss my mother & father soooo much and my brothers (2) who have passed on. But one thing I do have is the MEMORIES, and oh what memories they were.

I woke the kids early. The Easter Bunny had left chocolate and peeps. We went to the 8am mass which was packed. By the time we got home I was exhausted so I took a nap. We had a Honeybaked ham and I also had a tri-tip roast I cooked on the BBQ because I don't eat ham anymore. It was a good day.
