What a roller coaster ride this transplant has been. I am a little over three weeks out and am now face a flipping biopsy on Monday b/c my creatinine has gone from 1.1 to 1.4 in the past 12 days. Just trying to get the Cyclosporine levels where they need to be to be effective, but not toxis to the new kidney. It seems that higher blood levels of Cyclo raise the creatinine level.
Has anyone here had this type of problem with the anti-rejection meds? I think it happens mostly with Cyclosporine and Tarcro/Prograf, but I am sure other meds could also reak havok. I am also taking 1000 mgs. a day of Cellcept and 15 mgs. of Prenisone as far as actual anti-rejection meds go. Any thoughts?

Too much Cyclosporine/Prograf definitely hurt creat. and kidney function. When my prograf level is very high, my creat. always increases.

I found out CellCept did it for me. When I was switched to Rapamune, my creatinine went down and has stayed down unless I did not drink much fluids. I haven't had a problem with prograf unless I am on a higher dose than what I am on now of 2 mg twice a day. Sax, I hope labs turn out good so you can avoid biopsy. I have no advise on water though, I do not drink plain water since getting sick from water many years ago. It aways has a bad taste to me now.
