Title: Supply Storage
Post by: Chicken Little on January 09, 2007, 11:43:16 AM
The book I have says I need to make a space 6 ft long and 4 ft high for storage of my PD supplies.  Do they mean 6 ft square?  We have 2 bedrooms, but the bed won't fit if that's the case.

The supplies do take up a lot of room but can usually be piled in a closet or along a wall in a room. I have them stacked in my laundry room along one wall and just bring the bags I need into the bedroom at night. Will you be using a cycler or doing manual exchanges? I use a cycler so also have a large box of cycler tubing with a box of drain lines and patient extension lines as well as the 14 boxes of solution. Supplies are usually delivered once a month. If you have storage problems with very little room, sometimes you can get them to split your order and deliver it every two weeks. Maybe you can line your supplies up against the wall in the second bedroom. Depending on the orientation of the boxes they would sit 1 or 2 feet away from the wall.

They want me to do manual for a couple weeks before starting the cycler, just to learn how.  I guess I need to get started on weeding out the stuff in our downstairs bedroom.

 :thx;

I'm lucky to have a garage where I can store my supplies. My neighbour saw into my garage from his window; to far away to read the name BAXTER: He thought I was selling Amway!!! lol ;D

Downstairs?  You might need a little help carrying supplies upstairs, the boxes (bags) are heavy.   :P

Last time I was on capd the supplies were a little overwhelming and made us feel a bit squashed in our little one bedroom apartment, so this time we asked the council for a storage room, they have them on the estate where I live, so we now have a huge lockable shed just ten paces from our front door. I plan to use a big bag to bring in a days worth at a time.......

Hephziba, I think you should go all the way and get a llama to carry those bags!  I hear they're good companions, and you could be the first in your neighborhood (or anywhere else, for that matter) to have a llama as a disability assistance animal!  What fun! ;)

I think we need more pictures of "home setups", I promise to photograph mine when I finally get it all together, but in just networking with Ginger, I have learned I will need to make other changes than I had thought.

I was suppose to have my PD catheter put in yesterday morning......woke up at 5am....throwing up and the "hershey squirts!"......had to cancel surgery and my PD nurse will have to re sched it, I wanted to go so bad, but feared what might happen on the table when I would have "no control!"......
