Last night Aaron's Uncle (only one) passed away after having a heart attack. He was only 52 leaving behind 3 children. One is in Iraqi, another New York, and the other one still lives with him.
It was so amazing because the doctor at the end said, "Well he was an organ donor so we will begin seeming what is viable to use." Aaron's mom came up to me and said because of you he wanted to donate his organs to help others.
They donated his organs in honor of me and in remembrance of him...it was very touching. I just kept thinking maybe some of my IHD friends will be getting a new kidney today and Uncle Steve's giving spirit will live on.

Rest in Peace :pray; .. And its so touching that someone lives because of him AND you.. Still, makes me so sad knowing that these things happen and we must love all we can while we have the love to give. His lives on... Bless him.

Condolences to the family and you for the loss of Steve. Hopefully some lives have been saved because of Steve. Steve is a hero and didn't even know it.

I try very hard to understand other people's points of view/opinions on most topics. I understand that for some populations, organ donation is just not something their culture may condone. I can't claim to understand it, but whether or not I do is irrelevant. But I honestly (and I have tried) do not understand why anyone in our run-of-the-mill American culture would not sign up to be an organ donor or would refuse to donate the organs of their just-deceased loved one. Speaking very selfishly, and I have thought about this a lot, if my husband or my son suddenly died, the only consolation that I could possibly find would be in offering their organs to save the life of someone in need. To let that opportunity pass would add so much to my grief.
I am so glad that your uncle Steve loved you enough to honor you in this way, and I hope that your family find the greatest consolation in his gift. Will you be able to find out if any of his organs were actually donated? If so, would you be interested in meeting the recipients?

OKAROL I wanted to let you know that Aaron's mom (Vicki) met Jenna's donor. Vicki started telling me about a woman named Patrice coming over to the house and that she donated a kidney to a stranger, and I jumped in "Yeah a girl named Jenna in California right?" Vicki was like "Oh my goodness how did you know that?!?" It was just cool to see how small the world really is!!!!

His daughter was the executor of his estate and talked to the LifeBanc so when I see her I will ask what organs they ended up using. I would LOVE to meet the recipients. What an amazing opprutunity to talk to someone whose life was change out of a tragedy.

I am sorry for your loss and so young. My goodness.. It must feel good knowing that in his death he is giving life. That doesn't make your families heartache go away of course but it must help give a sense to what had suddenly happened. I'm thinking of the one son in Iraq. That must have been hard for him hearing of the passing for him so far away.
