We have a patient at our center who is a real peace of work. First of all, I became friends with this patient when I first started there, she was nice and stuff so I trusted her. Well one day she came over to my house and stoll food from me, also some other stuff. She also asked me for money which I kindly gave her, promised to pay me back each month, well never saw that money. Why I never took her to court I don't know but wish I had. Anyways the other day she asked another patient for money and when the patient said no she tried to get physical towards the patient by getting out of her chair and attacking the patient, staff had to hold her down. She also started using bad language towards the patient in a tone that the whole floor could hear including the f word. The FA had a talk with her after treatment but apparently it didn't do much cause the other day she asked me for some hoodies but when I said no she didn't attack me thank goodness. I'm surprised she's still being aloud to dialyze at our clinic, so has anybody else here ever met a patient like this? How violent and harassing can a patient get before they are discharged?

Depends on the center's policy, I think. They can toss them, but it's a time-consuming process with a lot of paperwork and legal implications that usually involve someone getting sued. We had a case come up in Michigan while I was in-center where a man was barred, and it was upheld in court. I doubt the center was thrilled with the court costs, though.

I had to laugh at the title of your post, as the clinic I go to most folks don't even talk to each other, except for the Hispanics, and they have a whole party atmosphere going. How did she get your address? Just wondering.

I gave it to her when I thought she was a friend.

ah yes legalities and paperwork get in the way of patients safety >:( :urcrazy;

wow sounds like a "great" person...
Im sorry that they did that to u.
I havent experienced this at dialysis but i have outside of it, it sucks!
At dialysis, there is a sweet little older lady who always asks me for my candy, which i do not mind at all sharing! Shes very kind about it... the only thing that kind of bothers me though, she says she needs it for her blood sugar.... it might just be me, but what if i wasnt there?? Dialysis doesnt provide sugary treats for us! I think I am going to buy her a bag for christmas :) or maybe sooner if i can afford it. Just in case!
Its hard to know who is using u and who is really ur friend.
At least Karma stepped up for you.

Empty threats are made at my clinic and everyone knows it so nothing is done. I don't think anyone was attacked at my clinic though.

After reading the whole thread and seeing she's been arrested for stealing from Wal-Mart, obviously she has some deeper issues. I'm sorry she stole from you.

Last treatment the nurse walked me to the front door to make sure I got to my car okay. Apparently a few days earlier a patient leaving the clinic started making threatening statements to patients, staff, and the doctors. Immediately booted from the clinic. We also now have security service outside in case any other wacky patients decide to go bonkers.

Here's a tip. In most states it's a felony to assault a medical worker or a fellow patient. You might look into it?
Looking for the center to do anything is a joke. It would cost them a good deal of money to lose a customer!
