Title: Eye Problems
Post by: LarryG on February 28, 2011, 11:52:11 AM
I have had all sorts of problems with my eyes from dry eye syndrome, to night blindness, flashing in my peripheral vision to black spots and patterns and I swear insects running around.Thinking I was going blind since I am a artist and sight is very important for my creativity I went to the optometrist and they found nothing wrong with my eyes, thank God! My eyes feel tired and dried out everytime I do dialysis and eye moisturizer does not seem to work. Anyone with vision problems and any recommendations on a solution? Someone said some of it might be a vitamin deficiency.

You need to see an opthalmologist and not an optomitrist to see if something is going on inside your eye, who may need to refer you to a retinal specialist. By the way this is written, there may have been a blood vessel leak with the bugs in the eye, also known as floaters, spider webs. Flashes of light in the ye may need a retinal specialist to look at. The first thing to do is see an opthalmologist who may inject dye so they can take pictures of your eye to look at blood vessles, retina, optic nerve. He then can send a report and copies to the retinal specialist if not in the same office.

Get it checked out.

I agree!  I am a diabetic and have had 12 procedures on my eyes.  All the same thing that you are speaking of.  I had "leakers" in my eyes.  The vessels in the back of my eyes were leaking blood.  They called it diabetic eye or macular degeneration(?).  Something like that.  I had to go and still have to go to a Retina doctor.  That is my primary eye doctor now.  I hope you get it checked out.  It can be very very serious.  Good Luck!  :cuddle;

Well i cant offer a solution but i have have a similar problem. People say i look like i have a demon in me, my eyes go bright red ! They get dry as well. Ive had all the checks done , nothing , zilch. The only thing i do know is im very sensitive to the fluorescent lights in the unit.

I am very sensitive to the lights in our unit. I can't sleep with the lights so bright not that it would help. I also know when they pull most of the fluid out of my body is when I have that dry eye feeling. Eye moisturizer seems to sting more than soothe.

I have Alports and the symptoms are kidney failure, hearing loss, and blindness.  Once  a year I have my eyes checked and there is a special test they do - sorry I don't rmemeber the name of it.   It may be something worth looking into....

I do PD but I know the dry eye feeling you talk about when I pull off too much fluid!

Good luck with this!

I too have eye issues like yours, and i have had multiple specialists look at my eyes, do tests, even some tests i wouldnt wish on an enemy, poking my eyes, giving my iv dyes turning my bright yellow for a day, crazy stuff, and no answer.... they threatened to take my liscence ,so i never went back for more tests! I dont drive unless i have to, because lights bother me, and my pariphreal vision is terrible!

It is still a good idea to have your eyes checked even if it ends up that they can not find nothing. It is a catch 22 about what they find in that case because it's good that they didn't find anything, but ba that they didn't.

When was last time you had your sugar tested?  Sounds like diabetes to me. I had same symptons and found a lot of relief with lazer eye surgery.
