Title: Antacids and Vitamin B12
Post by: iketchum on February 16, 2011, 02:06:50 PM
I have been taking antacids and acid pump blockers for acid reflux and low calcium. Now I am told I have low B12. Is there a connection between antacids and low B12?

I found this as a possible cause of Vitamin B12 deficiency:

People who use medicine affecting B12:
antacids: Prevacid, Prilosec, Tums, etc.
Omeprazole interferes w/B12 absorption from food
Metformin: drug used to treat diabetes
many antidepressants
