Title: low iron
Post by: tyefly on January 28, 2011, 06:32:25 PM
Well it snuckup on me.....  I wasnt paying attention for the last few months....  thinking that the clinic or the doctors would be looking and watching my labs......   my iron is down to 14 ... I was good a couple of months ago.....  I have been feeling really tired lately..... for a few weeks.... but I did have a cold....  but it wasnt bad....  This is sure a slow process  but it makes a big difference...... I have had two IV treatments at the clinic  now the las two weeks.....   and today I notice how really good I now feel... its like day and night.....
I guess I need to pay closer attention....to my own labs.....  not depend on the clinic to monitor them.....

       who checking the chicken house.......

Also keep an eye on your hemoglobin.

Our bodies (dialysis patients) need red blood cells.  We get shots of Epo to up our red blood cell counts.  But our bodies use Iron to make the red blood cells so it is like a catch 22.  No iron you can get tons of epo it wont help.

Yes i agree look at your labs learn the numbers and talk about them with your neph.
