I don't think this has been posted but the news is a bit old now.

Well we already have a pill that has a camera. They better not combine the two. Unfortunate Events in Spying comes to mind there. :rofl;

I wonder how long it stays in your system?  I agree with the Big Brother sentiment - how long before it stops being about helping patients and starts being about monitoring behavior?  Seems like it would have obvious applications for probation on drug or alcohol related criminal offenses.  Then it's a short jump to "Ooooops, sorry, you lose your job because the pill says your alcohol level was half a percentage point too high. That's at least half a swallow too much."  Not to be alarmist, but we've gotten really good at justifying things "for the greater good."

I can see it now.  Caraid being the rebel she is will break apart the pills and take out the chip and feed it to the dog..."just to mess with 'em."

Then she will get a frantic call from her doctor.  "You need to come in right away i just looked at you data and your running a fever, your heat beat is elevated ..and...and your chasing your tail?"

Probably depends on whether you eat a high-fiber or a low-fiber diet.
