Title: I received my PureFlow yesterday via UPS. UPDATE!!!
Post by: Epoman on December 28, 2006, 03:26:05 PM
Well it looks I will be using the PureFlow real soon, they shipped the bags and the PureFlow, but they shipped the Manual and the control unit to the training center, I guess that's there way of stopping me from trying to use it without being trained by them first. They know me to well, as I would have set it up myself and started using it.  >:D

Hopefully I will be able to get in next week for training, they say it takes a couple of days to learn. I can't imagine why it would take more than one. I am tired of those bags that have to be hung.

Well I went for my training today for the PureFlow and I brought home the extra parts I needed and I can't wait to hook it up.  8) No more hanging those damn bags. It's going to be great. Of course I will be taking detailed pictures and I will be updating http://www.ilovenxstage.com site with many details. So keep an eye out for those interested in the PureFlow.

You should have seen the reaction of the new vascular surgeon (not his usual doc) when we told her today that Mike was there to get the final clearance for his fistula in order to start dialysis training on a NxStage.  ::Blank Look::  So, I explained about the NxStage -- she was amazed!!  The buzz spread over the office and it was being discussed  behind the front desk as we were leaving.  The one nurse who usually assists Mike's regular surgeon was telling them the details and about the ilovenxstage site.   ;D

The training nurse said we would eventually get a PureFlow, but probably not until next year.

You will love the pureflow.  We just finished our first batch (3rd treatment) and I am draining out the leftover dialysate now.

Black you have to train for bags anyway so if you want to take a trip, you know how to hook everything up.  With bags, you have an external fluid warmer.  With the pureflow, the warmer isn't needed and the big black bracket that mounts to the bottom of the Nxstage unit is removed.

I kept the black bracket on my machine just in case I had any problems, I could just pop in the "bag holder pole", just in case. But so far so good! I had my first treatment with my first batch, session 1 , last night and everything went smooth as silk. Not one alarm went off and I was so happy knowing I won't have to get those 4 bags hung daily. The pure flow is so cool and simple to use, after treatment I just hit "stop" and it paused the pureflow and it just sits there keeping the dialysate solution warm waiting for my next treatment. I will be taking detailed pictures this weekend and also updating ilovenxstage.com.

Not sure about the PureFlow video, maybe eventually. I really need to work on the first 3 videos. See, I want the videos to look very professional, that is why I don't just "do it". I will have proper lighting and editing, I just haven't had the time. But they will be coming soon.

congratulations Epoman.  I can't imagine anyone on dialysis not wanting to use the Nxstage and the pureflow.  Glad things are going well for you as well.  My wife feels better than she has felt in years.

And I also was going to leave the bracket on for the same reason, but I have an IV pole in the closet from when Denise was on PD.  Do you have the little saline bag hanger installed?  There are 4 extensions in the bag with it that will fit on the feet of the Nxstage.  These will fit in the circle cut into the top of the pureflow.  Also gets the warmer bracket out of the way.  If you have to use the bags, just stick the bracket under the Nxstage.  It will hold the warmer without having to attach the screws (that is if you have somewhere else to hang the bags.  If you don't, I guess you would have to reattach it to the unit).
