My husband and I just started dialysis, (him Nov. me Dec.) We both had kidney transplants in 1989 from our mothers. I found this site, and wanted to be part of it, as it is so full of helpful information. I have so many questions, and hope to find the answers here. Merry Christmas to all!

Oh goodness...both a husband and a wife on D? I'm not sure we have such a couple on this forum, do we? Do you both go in-clinic? Do you mind me asking how your schedules work? I am about to start D, and my mom was on D, and we had asked her clinic if I could do D at the same time as her. We were told "no", reason being that they didn't want a situation where maybe mom would crash and daughter was stuck there watching, unable to do anything. Anyway, thanks so much for joining! Have a wonderful Christmas!

My hubby and I started dating shortly after our transplants. His was done in Oregon, mine in Wisconsin. One night we were out at a club and the rest is history. We have been married 17 years and have a beautiful 16 year old daughter, she is healthy but deaf due to CMV. Our dialysis center does us on the same 3 days per week, but they have us on opposite sides of the building. They are concerned they might mix us up. We have been so blessed our transplants lasted so long 1989-2010 is great in my opinion. Many blessings this holiday season!

Hi OneLL, and welcome to IHD. Actually we do have another dialysis couple on here but I haven't seen them post for awhile. Very interesting. At least you have an understanding spouse! ::) I'm so glad you found us and joined.
Have a Merry Christmas!

Wow. What an amazing story! I am not sure how I would deal... amazing that you met after getting live transplants from your mothers, married and now starting D within a month of eachother - that seems so odd... like sycronicity or something. I guess your lives were always fated to be together in this way. I can understand the staff not wanting to mix you up but it must be hard being away from hubby when he's right there going through the same thing.
Welcome to IHD!! I am sure just as YOU have many questions we will too on how you are dealing with all of this

Where are my manners??? :welcomesign; Lady. That's about 21 years for your two transplants isn't it? Amazing, you must have been doing something right, the two of you together. And how weird is that, they failed within a month of each other. Would you say... romantic?

Hello Lady and welcome to IHD. Great story and intro.

:rofl; That's exactly what I was thinking. There's a sweetness to it, to be sure, though perhaps bittersweet is a better term.
:welcomesign; to IHD, the pair of you! I am in snowy Wisc as well, although it is supposed to be a balmy 48 on New Years Eve.
