Hi! My name is Turner and I started dialysis April of this year. I am currently doing home Hemo dialysis as of yesterday. Just found this board to be a lifesaver so much information you need and they do not tell you. Fascinating! I am currently scheduled to go on a cruise in europe for 12 days and an extra 3 days in Barcelona. Any info any of you may have as to tips would be appreciated. I will also post this in Travel.

:welcomesign; Welcome Turner. Yes, this site is loaded with great information and there are some pretty great people here too.

Welcome!!
How did your first home treatment go?
-
My mother took a cruise earlier this year to Alaska. She was going to ask me to go with her on the cruise until she checked out how much more it would be for a person on dialysis. The cuise line said they accepted people on dialysis and could treat them on the ship, but it would cost something like $1200 a day extra!! The extra cost must have something to do with liability in case something goes wrong. Anyway, that was too prohibitive...hope your cruise line has a more reasonable approach. Have fun.

An older gentleman friend of mine took a dialysis cruise and had no issues that I'm aware of. Have a great time and stay away from people who even look like they might be sick. :) Enjoy your cruise! My husband and I went on a short cruise just months before I transplanted, but I wasn't on dialysis. We both slept the entire time. :clap;
Welcome!!! :waving;
